Anthony:

Anthony Catalano was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA where he was a standout soccer player whose career started locally with Lynchburg United (now CVU) to the Roanoke Stars (now VBR Star). He played at Holy Cross Catholic School then finishing at EC Glass High School.

Anthony became a D1 walk-on at Elon University in North Carolina. Catalano then became Elon University's first professionally signed men’s soccer player. His professional career started at the Charleston Battery of the USL (United Soccer League).

While at the Battery, Anthony would become a consistent starter in the back line over the 2006 & 2007 seasons. He would then try his luck overseas in the offseasons with a few European clubs. He spent time on loan with Oxford United in England and later having two professional trials with Serie C clubs in Italy, Pontedera FC & FC Pistoiese. Catalano would finish his professional career right back in the state where it started with the Richmond Kickers in 2008.

After his professional career he moved to Atlanta, Ga where he met his wife and they now have 3 kids.

In 2020 Anthony became the founder and managing partner of Apotheos FC that would get it’s start in the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League). In the second season Apotheos FC would go on a National Final run only to Iose in 8 rounds of PK’s to Tulsa Athletic. Anthony has operated the club from inception, and in 2024 he moved the club into USL League 2. The strategic move was in hopes to get the club in the proper position to make a future move into the professional ranks and provide Atlanta another lower division professional soccer club.

Bringing a highly operated, minor league soccer team to Lynchburg and City Stadium will be one of his greatest achievements in the sport of soccer. Partnering up with Michael Hitchcock “Hitch” brings a wealth of 28+ years of sports management, front office soccer executive expertise to this newly formed club in Lynchburg.

Becoming a new USL League 2 expansion team adds even more excitement to Lynchburg considering the latest announcements by the USL which plans to become the first professional sports league in the country to introduce promotion & relegation between their divisions.

Catalano’s passion, commitment and love for his hometown will make this club even more special. Lynchburg is the community that cheered him on in so many points of his life and career that this club will be a way for him to honor that same community!
